Day 6 - ANCIENT

It was supposed to be a longer post but it is my mother's birthday so we went to Capilano Suspension Bridge which is kind of in an ancient forest, so there.

Sword and sorcery games and settings

I like ancient cultures and ancient settings as opposed to pseudo-medievalisms of D&D and Warhammer. As it has become tradition here is a podcast recommendation on ancient cultures - Ancient World by Scott C.
My favourite games and settings are as follows:

Robert E. Howard's Conan: Adventures in an age undreamed of

Relatively new game from Modiphius, based on writings by Robert E Howard more than his followers. Co-written by Jason Durall, based on a very cinematic 2d20 system, with a free quickstart available.

Conan not the Governator

I know the least about this one but it is set in an ancient pre-history, 5e based, mostly human centric, magic is dark, twisted and evil. What more do you want?

Sword & sorcery 5e

Runequest: Roleplaying in Glorantha

The granddaddy of detailed and well developed settings. Glorantha, the world discovered by Greg Stafford and published by his company Chaosium, is inspired by mythical bronze and iron age. Myths and gods are real, and you can play duck people!
Based on d100 Basic Roleplaying System, new edition (co-written by Jason Durall. Coincidence? I think not) has been released in 2018 and is the most beautifully published RPG book I own.

The old
The new
Yet another release from Chaosium, running on Basic Roleplaying System. A very detailed encyclopaedia of early Icelandic history and culture with the assumption that all the myths and legends are real. I am currently outlining a short campaign for it.

If a polar bear with a glowing horn doesn't convince you to play this game, I don't know what will
